Revving issue's

One of the blokes I work with has a GU 3L Turbo Diesel. It has been running like a champion since he got it. He recently swapped out the fuel filter and he is now having alot of problems, he has done the fuel filter a couple of times before but never had this problem.

The truck isn't revving, it gets to a certain rpm and doesnt go any higher. You can hear the turbo start to wind up but isnt kicking in.

He has looked at it and even taken it to a mech. They both think it is too much pressure in the fuel line as it has been ok temporarily after they release the pressure. But cant seem to find the source of the problem.

Any suggestions?

vacuum (negative pressure) or positive pressure? and on what side of the filter

maybe as crimped return or supply line, depending on what else hae may have done at the time

Sorry about not replying with the extra information, we had pretty much sorted the problem after the first 2 days, but I was waiting for some decent k's to be done on it to confirm that it was fixed.

It was just the air-flow sensor on its last legs, just finally went belly-up during a batch of bad fuel. The fuel was tested (by a diesel mech) and failed miserably. The excessive pressure in the fuel line would make the engine maintenance light come on and for engine protection limit it to 2000rpm. Because of the problem with the air-flow sensor, this would happen almost immediately after bleeding the fuel line. Now that the air-flow sensor has been replaced, it takes approx. 20mins for this to occur. The truck is pretty much out of that fuel now and looking forward to a brand new batch of the good stuff.
