The bonnets the same, gaurds bolt on, but you'll have to take the grill out first then put the gaurds on, remove the lights, sit the new grill in place and use it to work out where the lights will have to sit, then make new holes and plates for the light mounts, its pretty easy.giantracing wrote:it will bolt on but you will have problems with putting gq guards/bonnet/grill on. you will have to cut and weld a gq front on. plus all your dash mounts from gq and mq are different
GQ lights are closer together and lower than MQ lights - roughly 10-15mm in each direction.
Thats assuming you want it to look like a GQ, you may want the wider GQ gaurds to cover the GQ's wider track.
There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots
im putting an early gq cab on my wagon chassis. it had narrow guards but am putting flared guards on it.
did this to fit the headlights

Had to make some holes with the holesaw to fit the blinkers in (not shown).
easy job. the tabs are just 20mm rhs cut in half with a captive nut behind them.
am using gq headlight brackets
they are only tacked on - so please no outers experts reply that the welds wont hold..........

I should have taken a pic - the inner guards were 'smooth' from the inside ie no 'cavity' for the shock to poke up into, but looking from the engine bay, the 'cavities' were there (welded in place). So all you have to do is just cut the inner guard to reveal the 'shock cavities'. Hope you understand what i mean

instead of putting the older cab on the new chassis, but the new chassis under the old cabblackmav wrote:Swerve wrote:I thought ADR's would not allow a older body be installed on a newer chassis.
X2
My blue slip guy said the same a couple of weeks ago.

i am doing this atm. the mq shell will not just bolt onto the chassis, the mounts have to be modified.
i am leaving the mq dash in also. but if u r running a gq gearbox u will need a new speedo or gq one as they have an electronic speedo. the inner guards need to be cut to clear the shock towers.
have not heard of the adrs saying u cant put older body on new chassis if anything i would have thought it would be new body on old chassis not the other way around but oh well.
