Disk brake conversions

Hey guys if I have a set of disks/calipers etc off an early 80 Series (1990) are these any good for anyone to do an upgrade or conversion. I'm chasing the later 80 Series brakes to upgrade mine for towing and wondering if the earlier ones are saleable to offset the cost. It has disks all round and I think the odd povo pack might have had drum rears but I'm wondering if they might attract interest for older cruiser owners cause that might help me chase mine sooner.

All thats needed to update to the later brakes is the backing plates ( inc h/brake parts ) and some new discs as the calipers are the same. The factory rear disc brake set up cant be fitted to and axle that had drums as the bolt pattern and spindle on the end of the axle housing are completely different !

Thanks Wally but you have confused me now. My understandign was that the calipers were also spaced out more to suit the larger disks. Or are you referring to the rears only. Either way my understanding wee the disks were bigge ron both ends and if that's the case I can't see how the older calipers could still work. Aside from clarifying that if I still have to change the whole front over I want to know if the older fronts are any good for anything else so I can sell them to someone else who could use them in an older Toyota or something. Although I'd like to change the rears as well the fronts are more important so if my older rears are no good to anyone else I'll probably leave that end for a while.
BUT still need clarification for the fronts.

I was thinking obout the rear end as all Aus spec 80's had disc front brakes Some early 80's had rear drums on the pov paks. On the front all you need is the disc rotor's, calipers and splash gaurds ( opt ) to comvert to larger brakes ( you need to run 16" wheels or grind away the calipers and thats not recomended ) The old valiper fit early 80's only so not much use for them other than the scrap bin !
