Hav u isolated that it is not a wheel bearing? Standard crown/pinion if in good condition r strong enough for most conditions. U can get cryo/heat treated sets from the states if u really feel u need more strength.

hhmm no i havent and thanks for pointing that out

i just assumed it was the diff as my last 4runner did the same thing b4 it started really vibrating

onyl starts whirring after about 60k and just gets louder as i go faster.

Sounds like it cud be either a wheel bearing or pinion bearing. I wud jack the back off the ground and check wheels for excessive play (spin the wheels in the air also and feel if the rotations r notchy or restrictive to c if its the diff). Also push up and down on the pinion flange and c if ther is any movement ther, Ther shud be none. Cheers

If you decide to do the diff centre I have a spare one with standard ratio that I'm not using anymore. Did you have the petrol or diesel runner?

If the 2L diesel I would suggest changing to 4.88 or similar to run the 33's you want to.

Cheers.
