Just fitted new HD trailing arms with bushes!
A bit hard to tell when i have my head out the window, but it sounds like its from the wheel hub area.

wheel bearing?
or did this start when the new bushes and arms were fitted?

Nah it started half way through our dargo drive yesterday.
The new lift gear has been in for about 5 weeks and i have done 2 other trips with no noises!

Sounds like bearings to me. Is this rocking them inboard/outboard or rotating side to side on the axle?

I had a similar problem with my 04 GU. It was the brake pads moving in the brake calipers. Easy fix, just put some PBR anti rattle paste on the back of the pads and the problem was solved.

Holding the wheel and rolling the tyre forward and backwards in the garage .

All our GU's have had a metallic click from the rear axle area. Never caused a problem.
My GQ has a funny metallic clang when I give it a jolt through the driveline (forward or reverse).
Probably should get under it and check it out.....naah.

Had the same type of noise in our new 4 runner the other night. We had only had it for 2 hours and noticed the exact same noise and symptons on take off and reverse.
The problem? Loose wheel nuts on the rear.
Tightened up all the nuts and the problem dissapered.
Sound ssilly but try it. It may just be the same.

Tighten all the trailing arm bush bolts, the bush is moving so the steel inner tube is smaking the bolt, will do it once one way then once the other.

Spot on!!!
i checked it tonight.
The sound is coming from the chassis mount end of the rear traling arm!
i will try tightening it.
