Hi there, am sure this has been discussed before and if so will happily look through older threads, just couldn't find any with the search function.
I have a 96 disco 3.9 litre.
Anyway since fitting the 35's and doing some rock hopping the power steering pump crapped it and i was told to forget fixing it but to fit an EL which is i beleive EB through to AU power steering pump. Apparently the easiest one, suited to serpintine belt in the right direction, has it's own reservoir and is much heavier duty than the disco one. Before i attempt fitting it just looking for some tips and what nots. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,
I see in your sigline that you have this up and running.
Any info you can give me?
Pics?
Mine is on the way out so I'd like to sort something before I really need it.
Would much rather replace with something other than the original one.
Thanks

bought a second hand pump off ebay $25
Had it tweeked a little, (upped the pressure a little) 125psi?? but should have gone a bit more but worried aboput the box.
took the pully off but pully mount came off an early 90's BMW
had to change the fluid out fitting to a banjo fitting
mounting bracket from 2 pieces of 5mm plate spread with hollow pipe and pump in between,
getting it positioned right was difficult as not much room, banjo fitting pretty much hard up against motor but between obstacles and the line out of the pump is being squashed slightly and am watching for rubbing ware, , currently i cannot fit a new belt on but my old one fits fine, not sure what i am going to do as i have run out of room to move bracket so may have to re-design bracket with pump position slightly different.
hope this helps
cheers
oh, and i heard somewhere (pirate forum?? maybe) that these pumps can be worked to produce something like 500psi, someone in toowoomba does it for about $600, not sure how you would go upgrading everything else to handle the pressure though.

Yuri would be the one at Toowoomba who does them but dont think it would be anywhere near that price.
Mick Garner used to do them but im unsure if he is still interested in doing pumps. Will find out this week if anyone interested

add a 0 to all your psi measurments 125psi you won't be steering. 1250 is about right for a second hand pump

cheers mate your right, and yow i think about it, the average ford pump out of factory was 1200psi but could be as high as 1500 and rover average was 1100 psi, i had it tuned to 1250psi but was worried about going higher in fear of blowing seals in steering box etc.
i just can't quite remember about the toowoomba guy and what he could get out of the ford pump, i remember now that an Outer member told me when he picked up some spare parts from me.
