Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I am jumping ship into a patrol but havent got a clue what motors the go.I see 2.8 td and 3.0td and dx and st but which motor is the best for power and reliability.Spending between 20000 and 30000 and want to get something that will last a while.I havent had anything to do with a patrol b4 so any help appreciated cheers ben.

Get a TD42. The 2.8 is a time bomb as are the early 3.0L, the list of failures with them is extensive.

thanks mate about what year would you say the 3.0l is ok from as the 4.2 are hard to find and when i do they want a fortune for em.

i got a 98 2.8 and have just had to spend almost $2400 on getting it repaired, i payed 16k for it. if i had of had the money i would of got the 4.2 but i would never touch a 3l. 2.8 might eventually, 4.2 might, 3 will give you problems
