fj45 on gas

does anyone out there have or know of an fj45 on gas? looking at something cheaper to run, diesel is just going up and up and one of these utes came up for sale... how would a gas conversion go?

after you install teh lpg kit, you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner

hey mate ive got 2 of them on gas... well they were on gas till i ripped it off!
one has a chev and the other a 2f and both ran great and never had an issue.
only reason i took the gas off is plainly because i dont like the stuff, i know its cheaper and all that but no one has, or ever will be able to change my thoughts on it. i dont trust it at all, ive seen too many cars blow up because of faulty gas systems.
just my opinion anyway.
ive got all the gear here if ya lookin for a kit too!

blow up? how many?
LPG is ACE.
you can hate it all you want, but when i fill my 100litre LPG tank at the servo for 65$ and the bloke next to me fills his 95 litre patrol tank for 142$ all i do is cringe for him and thank god for LPG!

6 of them, 2 of them were in the 1st week of having them fitted.
given that was a few years ago and they have probly rectified alot of problems now though.
still... i dont like it
plus it makes my eyes itchy for some strange reason???

gas is safer than petrol. petrol lines are basically garden hose. gas isa completely sealed system, copper lines, sheethed to prevent damage, with at least 2 cutoffs, which stop gas flow a few seconds after the last spark fires from the dizzy, a safety bleed valve in the tank, and a few other safety features.
a gas tank is made to take huge pressures, at huge temps. and even if you are in a car fire, that is hot enough to boil the cylinder and get it close to "blowing up", it has a safety release valve to bleed the pressure off... not that it's a concern, because a fire that hot would melt you to the drivers seat.
a petrol tank is just an unsealed, upspec plastic cup in comparison. how many car fires are caused by split petrol lines? how many post impact fires are caused by split petrol tanks? more than gas fires i'm betting
LPG rocks. in a 45 series, if tuned right, with the standard engines, you can reliably expect ~20 litres/100 k's. if you put a good system on there, and set the timing just to run LPG, you can achieve mid teens/100 (seen it in a mates 40, running impco 200, XE falcon throttle body.)

yes you are right... i did say the ones i saw were a few years ago.
like when it 1st started to hit the market.
never the less i still dont like it!
i didnt say he would regret it, both mine ran great on gas and i was actually gunna leave it on as a 2nd tank/low money week thing.
BUT!!! it makes my eyes itch... must be a allergic reaction thing, i dunno

G'day 45ers,
I got a gas eating chevy and it runs great. There is one problem I will shout about and thats availability! You cant get it everywhere.
Add to this LPG gauges are really just guess work.
4 lights, 4 lights, 4 lights 3 2 1 empty. Has happened to me a couple of times and when your out your out. You cant carry it with you.

hehehe yeah it can be a bit flakey if your sender unit is shot. Get as new sender unit, maybe yours is the wrong one/type.
i always go off km's.
my 40 series on gas does not have an lpg guage,
neither did my 45 that was also on gas.
the patrol's guage has gonne haywire lately though, it needs a new sender.
but yeah, you can fir a big arse tank in a 45, mine had a 100 litre lpg tank and a 150l petrol tank all under the tray.
you dont have to worry about supply if you are duel fuel. just get your car tuned for gas, and when you have to run petrol, run high octane fuel and carry an extra bottle of octane booster or a hand full of mothballs.

I run my fj45 troopy on gas and get about 250-300 ks on a 70 ltr tank of gas switch it to petrol i might as well throw $10 notes out the window
