Ive been thinking about the pro's and con's of putting a g13a head on and g16 block....what are people's thoughts on doing this?

I'm planning on doing this in the next few weeks after my exams. I've got a complete G16A but its got a few missing hoses, wires and fuel pump, so for the price I paid its cheaper and simpler for me to put my G13A head on. From my reading it increases compression slightly for low down torque but loses out slightly up high due to smaller exhaust valves (not a worry for me since i rarely go over 4000rpm).

I've done one of these g16b block with g13a head. worked well huge difference over stock 1.3 litre worth the effort. you will need to find or modify your old timing belt cover, track down a new timing belt, I think I used the 1.3 cam pully and cam belt adjuster you will need to play with. Than the typical bracket differences from a g16a/b conversion alt, starter gearbox RH engine mount etc

as gman said, a lot of little things to get around but from the reports on here over the years it seems like a good option. I have heard somewhere that the g13 head flows more than a g16 head. Increasing your intake capacity and putting some extractors on and free flowing exhuast should free up some ponies as well.

I've got a mid range camshaft, nikki twin barrel carby and modified intake to suit for sale if you were interested in a bit more power and tunabiltiy with the carby. I was getting good power right out to 6000rpm with the setup on my g13. pm me if interested.

Definetly the answers I was looking for, cheers guys. At the moment i'm running a g13a with a 1600 carb and bosch 4 spark plugs. Seems to go ok but I want a bit more oomph. Also so much cheaper to buy just a block and fiddle round and put the 1300 head on it for better gains that a 1600 head, definetly seems like the way to go
