Hi there peoples :) Ive got my lux diff in the rear of the zook now, but the tailshaft wont fit (im using the hilux front shaft, and it is not short enough to fit in the rear). The problem i have is figuiring out how much i need to get it shortned by. I cant drive it at the moment and "flex" it up so i can measure the distances between the 2 flanges, and i wouldnt get the full amount of up travel required by using jacks. Any ideas?!?! The other problem, people recomend drilling the holes bigger in the lux flanges, so the bolt holes are the same diameter to suit the bigger zook holes. It seems like their wont be enough steal left on the outside edge once i drill a bigger hole?? Heres a pic. Thanks lots again!!

Oh, the distance at the moment from the outside of the hole, to the outside of the flange is 3mm. And the distance between the 2 flanges (as the vehicle sits on a flat ground) is 490mm. :?

I may be wrong but dont you only drill out 2mm of the hole to make it bigger?

Thats only 1mm each side of the hole. It wont come near the edge at all.

Im about to put Hilux shafts in my Sierra this weekend

oh ok.. i havent measured it yet  but still thought i would make sure with other peoples!! The other thing i have to do is open up the spigot diameter 1mm.. going to be tricky getting the grinder in there!!!!!!!! hehe

Maybe missing something here , but why doesn't a hilux tailshaft fit a hilux diff , do you mean it doesn't fit the zuk flange on the transfer case , Cheers Paul.

Yeah mate.. sorry. It wont line up with the zook flange, but i'll be able to drill the holes out still :) Only thing now is working out the length of the shaft!!

Sitting at normal ride height you measure from centre of flange on diff to centre of flange on transfer and let the tailshaft specialist work it out.
Usually at ride height you'll have about 15mm of the slip joint exposed cause the diff moves backwards on compression.
