Hey all,
sorry if this has been already brought up but couldnt find anythin about it!!
soo is it worth getting a 2" lift on my 2004 Hilux or which has IFS and Leaf springs at the back!! will it be a bumpier ride due to the bump stops
or
would i be better off gettin the tortion bars wound up!!
thnx every1

Just wind them up and get a wheel alignment.

If you wind them up you won't get as much suspension drop off-road.

If you wind the T/Bars all the way up, you will loose down travel and the ride will be harsher.
You can get BJ Spacers on ebay and keep your some down travel or just do both and get 2 inch lift.
Don't forget the wheel alignment, whatever you do!

Go 1" BJ spacer and 1" torsion bar crank and get an alignment
Don't go 1.5" BJ spacer. You won't be able to get the front end properly aligned with a 1.5" spacer.

Wind the torsion bars up no more than 40mm and it will ride nicely. Unless you have a heavy steel bar and winch do not go aftermarket torsion bars they are stiff as and sucked on mine. I ran 40mm torsion bar windup and 2" body lift and was able to get 35s under mine. I hated the BJ spacers and wouldnt recommend them at all. each to their own I suppose.

surperior engineering actually do a kit for the ifs hylux which looks like it lowers all the important stuff
http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/s ... h=10_11_12 only for upto 95 model thou :(
and snake races has a slimilar kit

think i read in one of the 4wd mags a way back about calamari or some such who has a kit to but i cant remember tbh
but i would guess it really depends on how high you wanna go you wind up the torsion bars to high and you get poor cv angles which could cause you more greif down the track

Those kits are waste of time and money unless all you want is to look cool. Torsin bar windup and bodylift is just as effective and leaves enough cash left over for lockers.

Why do you need huge lift I ran 35s with minimal lift on an IFS with no dramas. If you want lift to just look cool then yeh buy a coiled truck and lift it 8"
