Gday all..just got my rig back from the doctors today. The compression and cylinders were as follows (1) 500 (2) 450 (3) 440 (4) 280.. (5) 450 (6) 500...

As Im aware, looking through the books they are meant to be around 490 and a difference of +/- 70 as "normal" . Its done 205,000kms and in the two years Ive owned it has not used ANY oil or ANY coolant. Blown head or faulty rings seems to be out of the equation as there is no evidence of water under the engine oil filler cap. The oil pressure tested as close to perfect as could be. Is it Valve problems..?

Cheers.....Dave

could be a valve not sealing properly. im no 'doctor' but seems like the only other thing it could be.

If its factory turbo - then get the botom end loked at while you are there - $500 now saves 6000 later.... They are prone ot failure every 100,000 or so....

Very odd though.

Yeah the big ends were done before I bought it, Toyota had the records. Keeping my fingers crossed on a valve problem..Its just running way too well these days..!!

Might find it needs a shim job on the valves.

The book says check them every 40k

I had my beast comp checks a little while ago,
Average was 480

Like new they said,

Mines done 318k

but i did the big end myself 15k ago aim glad i did...nasty things and best to change them every 50 -100 k,,,for 36 dollars and a bit of chemical sealant...cheap investment
