Apart from the Supercheap Auto house brand, where's a place to buy a good cheap 4x4 battery in Brisbane? Its only for starting, I have dual batteries ...

Need a new one for the Rangie. Got a big gouge in the top of the otherwise perfectly good (and near new) battery ... and I don't think exposed battery internals is a good idea ...

Theres no such thing as a good cheap battery and anything you buy that is cheap it wouldnt be much more to buy something that is half decent.
Plus if the battery is the starting battery or the battery your cranking off it has to be the better of the two... id have the crap battery as the aux battery and a good one for starting etc... specially being in a 4wd cause a cheap crap battery will let you down up the bush one day for sure!

This is true. That's why I'm asking; the Supercheap one is only $20 cheaper than a name-brand one, so if that's as cheap as cheap gets, then I'll get a name brand one.

Yeah around $20 would be around all you would save and any more than that the battery wouldnt be worth bothering with.. most batteries are made by the same battery company and i think there is only about 4 good companies in the world apart from all the lil jap companies that make batteries... and stay away from "OZ" brand batteries cause they suck!! we sell them at work and i wouldnt go near them!

I agree!! OZ may look the same as other brand name batteries but the quality isn't there. (and I work at the same place)

All batteries (lead\acid) are crap these days. They don't last much longer then the w'ntee period.

So Battery gurus, what is a half decent brand? I've been using a Kmart $69 "special" for the last two years and the recent hot weather seems to have gotten the best of it. Each week it is a little longer to kick things into life. Time for a new one.

Delkors are very good. Last well in log trucks. Sometimes there case size can be difficult to fit in an N70 sized hole...
