try bursons

as taken from a thread just down the page on a different matter
when my alternator died so did the brakes, I went to bursons to get a new one (hitachi) and there is 3 alternators you can get

1 - 70amp standard volume pump
2 - 70amp High Volume pump
3 - 90amp High Volume pump

I got a 90amp and will be fitting it this week I will post up if it improved the brakes etc...
as seen here at http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic99672.php

cheers, andrew

Does anything else need to be changed when fitting a higher amp alternator, relays? fuses etc?

I got the 90amp one and put it on my 4.2D the other day, everything bolts up fine, the only thing is you will have to do is put in a bigger alternator fuse for it, the standard 65amp is not big enough and will blow out..

I will find the bursons reciept and get you the part no for it

Just a few stats on this alternator

3500rpm = 101 amps
2400rpm = 88 amps
2000rpm = 74 amps
1600rpm = 51 amps

i think he said he uses a holden one, one with an older switch(or something) that starts charging at low RPMs so its good for diesels. he said he thinks it charges at lower RPMs than the standard nissan one (ive got the 4.2 diesel)

ill assume that the holden one is out of a petrol so i would not be able to be used on diesel cause it wouldnt have the oil pump on the back of it so it wouldnt just be a bolt up thing are you sure he knows you have a diesel cause as said above sound pretty cheap maybe check with him :?:
