Lockrite rear locker into front diff!

Post by mick85 »

hey all

Ive got a widetrack sierra with a lockright auto locking centre fitted. What i am keen to know is if its possible to put the centre straight into the front of the car without changing anything apart from the locker itself? Will this work?

Are the front and rear widetrack centres identical? or different? Can i just swap the whole diff from front to rear?

thanks :D

thanks joe - so just the centre locking mechanism can be switched from the rear member into the front with no dramas?

because its painful around town generally and will still give me ample offroad performance if fitted in the front

You'd probably want to get upgraded axles for the front anyway, Calmini sell the cheapest ones I think with 26 spline like the rear.

cool - i mite get that sucker in the front then and see how it goes... and replace the axles when they pop :P  or if need be!

it operated great in the rear off road, but i use the car to run down the shops etc instead of firing up the V8 SS as i hate doing short trips in it! so the front is probably a better option :)

how do you plan on running 26 spline centres in the front with 22 spline standard axles mate? usually when people swap the rear centres in the front its because they have to due to upgrading axles (which have 26 spline like the standard rears)
All the gear, No idea...

Like I said the calmini ones seem to be the cheapest but I doubt they're the strongest, still stronger than stock.

I'm just waiting till you get bored of zooks then I'm buying your junk Dee. Freight from the sunny coast is cheaper than from the US.

How many people running upgraded axles are carrying a spare set in case of breakage?

I'm considering my options now.
