clutch issue and starter issue

i have a dellow conversion kit in my patrol to 5.0 windsor. unfortunately the clutch isnt fully engaging and just slipping its little ass off.

ive done the following to try to fix it.

change to a slightly smaller thrust bearing
wind the clutch fork pivot fully down
ive allready repositioned the slave cylinder as it was soo close that the fork would touch the flywheel
retension the pressure plate bolts to 30 instead of 20/25

but it still slips bad enough that the car can turn over with the car in gear.

i dont want to pull the engine out again as ive had nothing but trouble so far with lining it all up including destroying 2 spigot bearings due to the dellow item being too big for the nissan crank and the next by me misaligning the engine and gouging it out BAD.

the other issue im having is that the car using the ignition will not flick the solenoid on the starter. the starter turns but the gear doesnt spring out and engage the flywheel. however, when i swap the wires around and it starts by itself with just positively connected it turns over fine.

the battery is at 13V. and it turns over fine just not with the key.

any help appreciated.
or anyone who wants to buy it

the same thing happened to me when i fitted a 6.2l diesel in my mav 10 years ago using a dellows kit. we destoyed a clutch trying to stop the clutch ffom slipping. the fix was seperating the gearbox from the adaptor and adding a 12mm plate between them. this moves the main shaft back allowing the clutch to fully engage. we also removed the internal webbing from the adaptor plate, this makes room for the clutch to move. the slave cylinder was also sleeved down to 5/8 ". hope this helps.
