GQ Instrument cluster

Hi Guys,
I have an 88 GQ (Petrol) (as you guys might know) and my odometer and speedo died... I picked up a new instrument cluster tonight and its not exactly the same (not really fussed if it doesn't fit, just don't want to pull the dash apart to find out)
The new one has a few extra guages... Extras are battery and oil pressure... Will the new instrument cluster work with my truck? I don't care if the new guages don't work, as long as the speedo and tacho do... Got rego due soon.

Will work, only the oil pressure gauge wont work. Assume the truck was a dx and you got an ST Dash,

Odometer had little plasic gears that fill up with crud & strip. One is a spiral type which drives the normal straight cut, the spiral wears.
The tacho is electric and I would say it either has a bad connection or a crack in the circuit board.

As far as your tacho goes, I think it is a common problem. Get someone inside the car with it running and wiggle the wires that goe to the sensor on the timing cover. The wires run up near the glow plug main line(where the bracket holds the wire to the manifold with the clip) Mine was intermittent and gradually got worse. The wires are fairly fine and all that vibration takes its toll. Just renewed the wires. ALL GOOD

Well, I got the new cluster in and took it straight out... couldn't get the tacho working and wasn't sure on the speedo (was unable to test it at great speed)
