Vitara TBI on G13b

I have just purchased a vitara TBI setup with loom and ecu etc. I can't find anything in the bible apart from Rhetts mazda tbi thread and have done a search but also can't find anything (maybe it's just me
) Couple of questions how many sensors does it have? Eg. o2 sensor? AFM? Does anybody have a wiring diagram or maybe a link to a thread to someone that has done it? Will i need to run a elec. fuel pump or will the mechanical be ok?
anything else i may need to know?
Regards
James

Hey mate in regards to the fuel pump you will probably need to run an efi pump as the mechanical pump is a low pressure pump. MART runs a TBI on his supercharged 1.3 with an external VL turbo pump mounted near the driver side firewall and that is all. Maybe he'll reply here soon or check out his build thread in the members section.

Watch fuel pressure - TBI's generally run lower fuel pressure than MPFI.

commy pump will be fine as it should have a return on them so it wont build up too much pressure. Dont try and rip me off of mine though, ill know who took it if it goes missing

So anyone have any more info on this?

I'm running TBI off of an aftermarket ECU though. Sensors are generally all on the throttle body. You should have two coolant sensors near the thermostat, one for the ecu and one for your gauge, to the left of these when facing the intake is the Intake air temp sensor also for your ecu. On the opposite end to where your throttle cable connects is your throttle position sensor. You will need a narrow band O2 sensor to match the ecu. You will also need a MAP sensor I imagine. I don't remember seeing one with an air flow meter which is why I think the stock ecu must work off MAP. For wiring check
http://www.suzukiinfo.com/ the samurai and sidekick/geo track TBI is pretty similar to the vit. Also try
http://carfix.stufftoread.com/fresh-air/fresh-air.html for some good TBI pics and sensor info.

heh i sold you that setup hybrid ... hows it going ?
im currenty doing the same setup on my zook , but im using the stock ecu that came with the frontcut.
yes the original setup runs a map sensor ..
the sensors and inputs are
map
tps
water temp
iat
o2
cas
these output to the injector.
im using a vl commo pump , im also using the 1600 8 valve head from the original setup so that the ports match..

Okay i'm going to sound like a mega newbie here, whats map, tps, iat and cas? (I'm really no good with wiring
)
Do the ports not line up on the 1300 head? I was told it was "bolt on" bar the whole wiring bit

From the top
MAP - Manifold air pressure - measured the load the motor is under
TPS - Throttle position sensor - measure the the position of the throttle plate (% of throttle applied)
IAT - Intake air temp - Measure the temp of the intake air
CAS - Crank angle sensor - Measure the position of crank, so the ECU knows where the engine is up to in its cycle.
Layto....

Hey Dave,
Yeah the TBI is going well. There is still a slight hiccup off idle. I think I may have damaged the injector with some of my early pulse width modulation settings. I've got another TBI manifold to play with now so I'm going to mess about fabbing it to take port injection. I always need new projects hehe.
MAP = Equals manifold air pressure, the computeres uses this to determine load and fueling
TPS = Throttle Position Sensor, determines how much go pedal your using
IAT = Intake Air temperature, fueling changes dependent on air temp
CAS = Crank Angle Sensor, determines the point in the cycle that your engine is.
The ports still line up. they are just 1mm or 2 smaller on the head side cuasing a small step where the manifold joins.
