Fuel Tanks for bobtails

Hi all

Have been looking but can't find an answer in the threads. I have just chopped out 18 inches on a 2 door RRC. Took out a very nice 120 odd litre stainless steel fuel tank.

Now I need something smaller. Have considered a 30-40 lt fuel cell secured in the back which doesn't greatly excite me. Looked at sill tanks but interfere with the sliders and I think there is some overhang... again not that exciting. Has anyone seen something off the shelf worth looking at or come up with a super idea other than fabricating a tiny one and remounting at the rear between the chassis rails?

Any experience would be greatly appreciated

If you have a body lift you can use the area between the floor and the chassis as well as the small area at the rear. That is what I am going to do when I bobtail mine.

Do you have any pics of the job or the process you went through.

My Bobtail has been converted to a 2 seater and has a fuel tank mounted directly behind the front seats. It's in a sealed off area with pump and bits, all hidden behind a sheet of steel. Quite neat.

Cheers

You could look at a belly tank from a hilux and see if you could make it work.

Lots of early 80's small jap cars have vertical mounted petrol tanks that were mounted directly behind the rear seat, go to a wrecking yard and check some out.
