Hi Guys,

I have an issue that I think someone from here will be able to help me with.

I have a FJ40 that I am selling but I have no idea what year model it is. :?

I dont really care about the year but I have been asked the question.

It has wipers on the top of the windscreen,
Three door hatch setup for the rear doors,
'F' motor with a three speed,
Drums all round.

The chassis number is FJ400449.

Does anyone have any ideas or know how I can find out for sure.

Thanks

does it have round indicators on the front bib and fenders?

if so it sounds like a 69 or similar vintage model..
at best maybe very early 70s

There should be a plate on the drivers side inner fender (engine bay side) that will tell you the year. Failing that I would just ring a Toyota Parts Dept and they should be able to give you a build date from the Chassis No you have.

No cowl vents , split bonnet ,Small tail light holes in rear cross member, rounded fuel filler opening, Bet it has a ribbed dash to. Id say it.s a1968 or earlier. front bib and guards are later items from the seventies

According to this is a 65 model http://www.sor.com/fj40frame.html . Not sure if these apply to Australian models though

Steering column, heater and the 2 warning lights on the dash are all later model stuff as well.
Looks like it's been made up of bits from a few cruisers. As far as value goes i have no idea. What your asking seems fair.

I would also say it is not the origional roof (going by the tabs on the lower rear doors it was a factory soft top), or wheels ( no spring clips for the hub caps ;) )
