looking to buy a GQ

Post by 4x4xmore »

Howdy Guy's

I am looking at buying a GQ, I have one to look at tomorrow at a good price. however it is unregistered and has been sitting for 6 months. The troll has had a reco engine just shortly before it was taken off the road. The owner has told me it is running a little rough and would need a good tune. It is a 4.2L petrol....

Can you guys give me any advice of things to look for when checking this troll out, as it is not registered then it is very difficult to test drive...

Thanks in advance

price is right....

Can anyone tell me if all GQ patrols have a plate welded to the chasis just behind the drivers side rear wheel with the VIN# stamped on it?

can anyone tell me of any major differences between the patrol and maverick?

Is there a big difference in power between the 3L & 4.2L patrol?

overall power there probably isnt but its the tourqe to get it rolling the 3l might struggle more..

but that same 3litre can be modded easy and use less fuel then the 4.2
plus if the 3l blows you can get a new one very cheap..

I took the ford badge off the front of mine, and the nissan logo was imprinted in the plastic behind it.

The steering wheel can be different. But essentially nothing, some mavericks were kitted out, and some patrols were, just depends on how many boxes were ticked when the original owner bought them i guess.

The price is right on the petrols, usually about 5 grand less, because noone wants petrol these days (plus they suck around water :p) The price might be right now, but if you start towing things the price will be right at the bowser when your guzzeling the petrol!
