Is a coil conversion street legal

Is a coil conversion street legal
need to know if a coil conversion is street legal
The answer to that is probably not where you are......
In Victoria it "might" be possible with a lot of engineers time ( and its going to cost..... ) and its going to be expensive to do properly in parts and labor.
And of course would help to know what vehicle your talking about.

( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Ok a F50 would be technically easier than a later model but its going to involve chassis modifications which are going to require certification.
From what I know of QLD registration requirements your going to be pushing it uphill.
Talk to a certifying engineer before you go any further, most wont charge for an initial "chat" and that will steer you in the right direction.
If I had to make a guess - I'd say its going to be difficult.

It is possible in QLD to go through with a coil conversion.
The only problem is the mods have to be completed by a qualified welder/fabricator and i may be wrong but i think u need to have the mounts x-ray etc.
Please seek an engineer. i went thru this process years ago put was
basically shown the door.

MULL
ok.
in queensland you need.....
standard or approved copies of mounts from an oem vehicle
standard or approved suspension links.
an engineer to pre approve the modification
an engineer to approve after the modification
a good smile and big tits when you get pulled over by the cops because they dont care about the certificate it still looks defective.
have fun

the short answer is YES !!!, there is a guy called phill scott enginering, based south of casino, but he is mobile. & does enginering all over AUS, alot of the big 4x4 mod shops use him as he goes to them.He works in closley with the RTA ,& engineres QLD / VIC / NSW ect I had a choice of redgeresting mine NSW OR QLD, but desided to go NSW, as I wanted to run 35" tyres whitch are illegal in QLD, I could have had it done QLD but would have had to have the truck on 33" tyres & a little less suspension lift, get in touch with phill, if you cant get him through call conect, try Peter Woodfard Mechanical in Casino for his number.. good luck PIGLET
