6.2/6.5 V8 alternators???

I'm trying to source a different type of alternator for my chev as the standard 60 series one I have in there is in an awkward positon... and this is the second time I've had the thing sieze up on me.

I'd like to try and get a more compact alternator so I can mount it a bit closer to the main pulley instead of being so far away which wasn't the best solution, but something I had to work with at the time.

An upgrade in ampage would be an added benefit if I could get it, keeping in mind I also have to have an alternator with vaccum pump for brakes.

Any pics with mounting position and type of alternator would a great help.

Cheers,
Brighty.

What type and how many amps are they???does it still have the vaccum on the back of it?? Where have you got your's mounted???

I shoulda stuck my head under your bonnet when I brought that steering box up to Steve that day in the Watto's. (Yeah, I'm the one in the yellow 60 ute) You might want to give him a call and give him some stick too..... he broke his truck again on Sunday down at Menai!!

Brighty.

Just wondering with these diesels, can you use something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/82-91-CH ... 0258724741

... for vacuum so that you can just use any 12V alternator for amps?

I'm not a diesel-oriented person so I don't know much about them but it seems like the vacuum issue really screws with your alternator options.
