Anybody know how the find the pin code for a Landcruiser radio without having to go to Toyota.

Got a flat battery today ,and the "sec" has come up on the system`s face.The Auto Elec has already had 7 attempts

so only 3 to go.

On some Toyota's its the last couple of digits of your vin number.

Yeah as said above last 3 or 4 digits of VIN number ......I have had the same F#ckn prob .....till I decided to erase the pin memory

if its a tojo most of the pin codes will be a factory preset unless sumone has changed it previously, also try the numbers on ur rego plate as this worked on a rather new prado i did a while ago.

Toyota dont use factory codes on their radios. They are delivered uncoded. It is up to the end user to decide on their code. Toyota can over ride the code but the radio needs to be removed and they have to send it to a service centre to have this done. I beleive it costs around $70 to have this done. I have bought heaps of factory toyota radios for hilux's i have sold and its hit and miss on wether they are coded. Ive got about 5 late model hilux radios here that have codes on them if you want to play with some more

Also from my experiance it doesnt matter how many times you try and enter the incorrect code. 7-10-50 times ive never had anything more than SEC come up on the screen. Ive only ever cracked the code on one. It was as simple as 1234 and i got it first time

Hyundai on the other hand there are 2 numbers on the radio case. Subtract one from the other and the answer is the pin code apparently.

We`ve tried pretty much all idea`s that we could come up with thru VIN numbers,engine numbers etc.Couldn`t be number plate as we changed them 18 months ago when I boiught the car so dont know they old plates digits .

I`ll be writting down once its all fixed so wont have a problem again

you only get ten attempts then its all over and HELP will appear on the screen and then you can only get toyota to HELP Most pins are entered by the 1st owner.

What ruff said is correct, it is user set not factory set. It could be any combination.

I've been thinkin this the whole time why bother with the clapped out factory stuff when you can pick up a mp3/DVD players for $250 or there abouts now.

that'd equal to about 2 weeks worth of music on 1 DVD in MP3 tack on a screen as well and you have a movie player as well.

lots of cheap options these days.

There is no default on a Toyota Radio. Toyota do not security code there Radios. It is up to the user to choose their own code.

well if theres a default "Toyota" override (not sure how else they will do it if there isnt) number that will take them 10seconds to do, that would be great customer service. Radio fixed in minutes, and away. but there doesnt appear to be this number.

The other way to get the code or maybe reset it yourself would be to grab a factory workshop book/pdf and see what it says may have something as well.

though wouldn't disconnecting the radio and leaving it out for a month or 2 (run out of power on everything) may remove the codes too.

What a pain - with the holdens you just take in your rego papers and they give you the code 5 min max.

All coded radios ive ever had have a limit to the number of times you can enter a wrong code. then it freezes.

Howevere most reset after 24 hours and you can enter another 10 attempts. etc etc. disconnecting the battery usually means you can have another go as well.

I bought my last sony cd player for 114 new. fit your self in 1 hour and never worry about the code issue again - they always come on when your aboput to go driving for like 10 hours

You would think a long period of no power would clear everything but ive got one that had been out for at least a year and it still wanted the code

If the 100 series stereo is just the base model and not a CD player you can find them at wreckers in other model Toyotas. I usually only pay between $5 and $15 for one out of a Camry, Starlet, Corolla, Celica or Echo and if it turns out its got a code most will swap it over.

Go to a Toyota wrecker that sells those radios and ask them what they advise their customers . You never know there may be a work around or every wrecked yota would have dud second hand radios.

FAAAARRK! I cant beleive toyota charge $70 to re-do the security code.....when we have one at work that somebody at the toyota plant has programmed into the radio that shouldnt have, we remove the radio, hook up another electrical little box thingy from fujitsu that plugs straight into the back of the radio and theres a little button you press and thats it.......70 BUX! I might start doing these as backyarders for 50bux! LOL

Like someone else previously said, just pay a couple of bux more and get a cheap MP3 player.

shit .....70bux, who would have thought for a little pissy job like that......what robbery!

An old trick for bypassing radio codes. Put the radio in the freezer over night, wipes the codes. However this trick used to work on coded radios 20 odd years ago not too sure how it works or if on new radios.
