Moving fuel tanks on samurai/413

Hey, i have an '89 samurai with 2" body lift. The fuel tank is still in the factory location, leaving a ~2" gap between it and the floor above it. Would be nice to remove this gap to get the tank up out of the way....

I realise that the tank cannot be simply moved upwards on its mounts, since the filler hose attaches to the bottom of the tank, and would have to go straight through the chassis rail.....

Wondering if anyone has found a similar tank of another vehicle that will fit lifted up a couple of inches?

Or any other solutions?

If you find somewhere else for the exhaust, a tank out of a carry van is a damn nice neat fit.. Way up out of the way.
Same 40 litres and same fittings as Samurai/Sierra.

I have a carry tank sitting in the garden doing nothing if you want it. PM if interested!

As for lifting the original tank, you can modify the mounts & move it up some more. Mine got to about an inch lift - but the mount hole that you can see in the pic is in the way of the rear tube now. Not sure if we're going to leave it like this, or modify it some more to go a bit higher...
