hi, first post on here, really good forum.

Have been on here non stop for the last week or two reading up about patrols, i currently own a 60 series cruiser but time for upgrade. i have found a gq shorty 88 model for sale for 4500, it has fairly good tread on a set of 33's, 2 inch body and i think 2 inch spring plus cd and uhf ect. it is petrol, i believe it has a tb42? this seems to be a good price and good compared to market value, however needs a new clutch from research can have one installed for 800-900. and needs a good tune up too. Im keen for the coils and can get a good suspension set up off a mate cheap so im pretty keen on a gq. Just wondering if this is actually a good deal or should save the money fixing it and invest in something a bit dearer? any help appreciated, thanks.

are you sure it only needs a clutch
it needs a tune - if its a petrol make sure the head isnt cracked, its common on TB42's.

price depends on what part of the country you are. Petrol trucks are cheaper than LPG trucks.

a good tune up could mean a carby rekit, valve adjustment and other stuff, could also be down on compression or have a burnt valve.

if it has a stuffed clutch, and needs a tune up, you should be getting it alot cheaper than 4500, because it is going to cost you over 6 grand ( all up) to get it back on the road
if he replaced the clutch and tuned it up, i doubt he woudl get 6 grand for it.

for instance i just sold a 93 model TI dual fuel that was faultless for 6 grand

2" lift- worth nothing
33's $150 each new
new SONY mp3 cd player 130$
uhf 150$

i'd say keep looking, or offer him 3 grand.

thanks bogged and jessie. Yea, thinking about rocking up with 3 and a half cash and see what he says. could save a bit by doing the clutch with the help of a mate. now that ive got the idea in my head im pretty keen. will still be looking around at comparisons though, thanks.

thanks for the help guys, done a deal for 4g with rego.. im in CQ and havent found anything for the right sorta price until this. i have to put a little work in but am happy with the price and will hopefully turn it into a pretty good rig with extra suspension lift, front and rear custom bar work, sliders, winch, running 35's ect  , plus either engine swap or efi and turbo, cheers.
