hey guys, noticed today that where my bumpstop mounts to the chassis, its been pushed up, and the chassis has a crack about an inch high up the side of the chassis rail. its the same both sides, looks like the car has bottomed out hardcore and its pushed the bumpstop up and bent its mounting and buldged the chassis slightly and cracked it.. its only on the outside and both sides in the same spot. has anyone else seen this in gq's cheers

yep, have seen this when the vehicle has been used for really heavy towing or when vehicles have been oveloaded constantly. I saw this exact thing in a Telstra GU about 4 weeks ago. It had cracked out on both sides in about the same place as you suggested.

thanks mate, pretty sure hes been doin some towing with it, has a electric brake controller and used to go around australia so it could be, is it legal to actually weld the chassis up or does it need to be plated and such, because im gettin the lift kit engineered soon and im sure they wont like these 2 cracks, cheers

The engineer l used to modify my Nissan also had a look at the GU with the cracked chassis rails. It was quite fixable according to the engineer, provided it was done the right way. As for what he recommended to fix the cracks, l cant help you with that as l don't really remember and would only be guessing. If you want the name and number of the engineer, PM me and l will send you the details. Just remember with the lift, you are only legally allowed 150mm overall lift and that includes your tyres, suspension and any body lift.
