yesterday me and my mate started installing a 2 inch body lift kit onto my 90 swb vitara. im just gunna post up the problems we encountered to save you the hastle when you decide to do this.
first problem. we only had 1 bottle jack and 1 scissor jack ( werent very prepared ). removed all the bolts, and started lifting we got them jacked the full length and we had another 3 inches to go so we got some bricks to put under the jack and a peice of wood to go inbetween the jack and the body so it doesnt dent it. jacked it all the way up and we heard some creeks starting.. O, OH! there was still another inch to go aswell. lowered the jack down and looked under neath and we had bent all the flooring up. ( we had jacked it from a strong point too. went down to super cheap and got a floor jack put a bigger peice of wood in to disperse the strain better and jacked her up again. success! we got her high enough to fit the blocks in.lowered her back down and started the other side ( yes its true the second side is much much easier) got the bolts in and lowered her down. now the trickiest bit. once we lowered the car down the bolts pointing down from the body were not in-line with the middle of the rubbers so we couldnt get the female bolts to go in. so 1 of us levered the bolt with a screwdriver and the other one lifted the car up and down. this worked quite well.we got all the bolts down and in. also in the process we checked all the break lines etc.. they were all good except the brake line that runs into the booster was tightening up a tad but still ok. the power steering filler hoses had popped off so we had to relocate the filler at a lower level but this was easy.
the car goes now with the lift but things that still need to be done:
bend the gear and low/high range levers up because they hit the body now and cannot select 2,4,r and on the other one cannot select 2 high but thats ok just dont lock the hubs in 4 hi.
AND thats about it lol if you bothered to read it all and it helps you with your lift kit then ive done my job.
ill post a pic up of my ride soon and update it soon
