G'day all,

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a LT95 (gearbox part only, cut the transfercase part off) to aLT230? mainshaft is biggest problem I guess?

What about fitting the LT95 first gear into a R380 or LT77? possible or is it way too different??

Anything is possible. Ive adapted the LT95 transfer part to a ford manual box so you can cut the gearbox in half and modify the main shaft but there is a fair bit of fab work (with aluminium) and $$$ work with the main shaft.

What are you trying to achieve here??

Its been done here in WA. A guys that races a 450hp Rodec in a 110 has done it. I know cause Ill be up against him this year in the off road racing scene Ring Rovacraft 08 9377 0080 and speak to Dave and ask about it. They used some sort of adaptor for the shaft

G'day all,

Strange Rover - I'm trying to get some crawling ratio's for my project truck, LT95 has lowest first gear out of all Rover box's

Any other box's that will fit neatly upto a 300tdi ??

whats wrong with hilux 3rd's for crawling??
you can change transfer case high gears for road speed.
strength and gearing in one.
maybe cheaper too!!

I'm going to run hi lux 4.8's, but I want lower.

R380, MDE 4.3 in transfercase and 4.8's will give me 76:1 first low

But if i can get a LT95 to bolt onto the R380 then I can get about 85:1 first low

Whats a lt94 first?? 4:1?

Whats a R380 first??

This BW T18 gearbox that I have adapted to the LT95 transfer has a first gear of almost 7:1 and is direct drive in 4th. Reverse is about 7.3:1. When I made this setup I got two of them done and have only used 1 of them. Ill sell you the adapted transfer case components if you want for what it cost me (say $500) - this is the housing and the main shaft.

To set this up you need the guts of an LT95 transfer and a BWt18 2wd manual box (I bought one for $100 from trading post). You then need to adapt the gearbox to whatever motor yo are running. To adapt it to a rover 3.5 is just a very simple 6mm adapter plate and put the ford clutch onto the rover flywheel.

This would give you 7x3.3x4.8 = 110:1 reduction.

You will be able to bust parts while ideling.

I can take some pics of this setup if you want cause the rig that this is in is pulled apart ATM. See the 1/2 tube buggy buildup.

Its out of an early F100 or F250 or F350 2wd from about 1970 to 1985 I guess. Very common gearbox.

I get some pics.

That is a Borg Warner T18, it has like 6.7:1 first gear. Crazy offroad!!

That shows the case, its just cut from the box, once all together it is neat and very compact. A good driveline for a short vehicle. It also has great offroad 6.7x3.3x4.88 = 107.897:1 (give or take) which is pretty good, if you got the hiace 5.29s and go with sams 7:1 in first you get:
7x3.3x5.29 = 122.199:1 CRAZY

The box and shaft sliding together and where the t-case mounts to etc. I am not sure exactly what Sam is selling for $500 but it should go pretty damn good. The gearboxes can be worth that much. So you can't lose.
