Gents, i've got a new 383 Stroker GQ shorty. There are extractors but it needs a new pipe. I thinkin 3' but i'm not sure what the best baffle is... I dont' want it too loud as i'm trying to not buy a 5' tacho ule....
And advice lads? I want to learn about this donk!

I had the same engine in a holden 1 tonner. It had pacemake extractors and twin 2.5in exhaust with Edelbrock mufflers and no balance pipe.
It sounded and went like an absolute weapon.

Mine has twin 2.5's with hotdogs on the end.... I don't know what extractors they are. There's a flatspot where the torque drops off before the power peaks... both are at around 370hp at the wheels at the moment.... needs to hold the torque more....

I've got a worked 351 in my XA ute.
I had a single 2" system with 2 mufflers to start with and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner.
I tried a 2" twin system behind tuned length extractors but it just wasn't right. Too crackly.
I went to a 3" single pipe behind 4 into ones with 4" collectors with a Flowmaster muffler and I reckon it goes better.. Definately sounds better through a big single pipe.
I'll get it back on a dyno one day to see if it does go better or not but I like the way it sounds now.
Twin 2.5" pipes = 9.8 square inches of exhaust.
single 3" = 7.069 square inches.
I reckon slightly smaller pipe and you'd make more torque.

Twin systems on holden V8's without balance pipes sound like poo. I'd stick with a single 3inch and just ad or remove mufflers to adjust the volume.

into this you also have to add the flow and volume rate as you cant use a straight through muffler to keep down the noise where as twin 2.5 it is more feasable with straight throughs. 3 inch sounds shit loads better, but clevos sound better again.
the biggest thing is that patrols dont have much space for an exhaust down the driver side. yet they have plenty of room for a single 3 down the passanger side, alot of commercially available exhusts to.
