what year did hiluxs come out with 5l diesel and how can you tell the difference

november 97 onwards. not sure how to tell the diff though, never looked at a 3L.

Look at the engine no on the block it'll start with 3L###### if it's a 2.8 Or 5L###### if it's a 3litre. Engine no will be above the injector pump but below inlet manifold.
