does anyone know if steering boxes can be adjusted and where? there is alot of play in mine. as in quater turn and still going straight.

and i have 4 100w lights mounted but not wired up. will my drover run them? as i am not a sparky and hav no clue.

yep you will run those spotties, but that is all, and it will drain your battery with the standard alternator.

4x100 = 400w

400 / 12 =33.3A

120 / 12 = 10A

total amp draw for lights = 43A
max alternator output = 40A

if you really want to use 4 of em, get the 60w globes, in the narva plus 50 style. these will probably be brighter cos they will run at the recomended voltage.

spots will be fine.

i ran 450w on mine for a while no probs witrh std 1.3 and alternator.

just be carefull of not running them too much at idle and when engine is off.

4X100= 400w = 400/12 = 33 amps, + the demand of your car at night - easily another 15 amps

33+15 = 48 amps.

Stock alternator is 50 amps, but that's at peak not continuous. No, it won't do it.

Put an EL alternator in it - 100amps (peak) you'll be fine then.

Search on the steering box, its been covered a bazillion times before.

As for the lights, what motor do you have, what size alternator. It will run them, but not that bright, and it will slowly discharge your battery too.

You have 400w of lights there, plus your 120w for 2 high beams, and aroudn 15 watts for tail light globes etc.
Thats pulling 44 amps just for the lights. If you then factor in recharging the battery, and running the rest of the car, you little alternator is not in a winning battle. Thats a perfect system too, no poor connections etc. You have to either drop your lights, or upgrade the system.

Different manufacturers rate their alternators in different ways...

Bosch for example rate their alternators at XX Amps CONTINUOUS whereas most Japanese manufactures rate at XX Amps PEAK - which will fall off under stained load.

IMO - No its not going to be a long term success, change alternator or loose some of the lights.

My Sierra barely runs two 150W lights. It won't start if the lights are on and you can hear the alternator struggle when you switch them on.

Imagine the alternator as a pump, pumping water in a tank (the battery) and a hose draining the tank (the load from the lights)

If the drain is draining water faster than the pump can put it in, you're going to end up with an empty tank sooner or later.

My IPF 900's are 130w each, 22A total running. Just about to replace with 55w HID's so total running current will be In=6.4A so theres a 15.5A decrease straight up. Just another way around it plus alot more light.

I know it's been talked about before but I searched "steering box" in the suzuki section and came up with nothing. Also the bible seems to only have stuff about power steer and High steer etc. I'd like a point to any threads on fixing/rebuilding leaky/stuffed steering boxes too.

Yes you can adjust them, 14 mm nut on the top and a flat head screw, dont over tighten. this will reduce backlash, not remove wear in the shafts.
To my knowledge there isnt a rebuild kit avaliable if there is id like to know but you can buy new after market steer boxes from suzistore at a reasonable price, most second hand ones seem to be as bad as the other these days.
