Outer Limits 4x4 Board

im am in the market for gq patrol, i have been wondering with the difference in price of diesel compared to petrol (usually around 20c/L) which would be better to get.
What i mean is with the price difference at the bowser and will the comsuption of a petrol 4.2 vs a 4.2 turbo diesel be big enough a difference to look toward the diesel even though its more expensive to buy?

So the real question is in the long run, go the petrol or diesel.
what sort of litre per hundred am i looking at with petrol and diesel?
if people could put up their fuel usage it would be appreciated, thanks.
the car will be used for both highway driving and off road activities.
i hope what i am trying to say came through ok with my jibberish typing.

Are you including dual fuel petrol/lpg in the list of options?

It's been discussed quite a lot in the Nissan section of the forum...

i actually should of said that i was talking about 2 cars i could potentially purchase.
One is a 4.2 injected petrol and the other a 4.2 turbo diesel.

I've gotta 4.2ltr GU Turbo Diesel patrol, I just did 796km takein boats forward/back to the melb boat show for work. Every boat i towed was over 2500kg. I used 128.43ltrs of fuel for all that, ie: loaded at least half. By my math thats 16-ish ltrs/100km (i could be wrong, maths aint a strong point ), and thats towing at 100km/hr. Granted, fuels dearer, you gotta service it more, but the sound out of a 3" straight through exhaust towin somethin heavy just wins LPG/Petrol would probably be cheaper (it cost me, well my boss, $235 to re-fuel), but its fuel, you gotta have it. If i slowed down a bit, didnt overtake so many ppl and sat on 90-95km/hr i'm sure those figures would've been better, but wheres the fun in that?

under 12 litres to the 100 in a 4.2 diesel GQ ute. thats with a light load, probs 200kg i carry around everyday.

i get bout 10-12 per 100 in a TD42 LWB with 33's. im so over everyone thinkin these motors are slow...

and why do you need to get to the speed limit so fast? (ok, so i am building a really fast street car, but thats not the point)
with these things, you just putt along, im a regular light foot and change at 1800 driver.

thought i hadnt opened the throttle up lately so i wound it up in third today coming up a hill, revved it out to 3500, what i love is how linear the power is, and when you do give it some curry it isnt too slow.

turbo and gas, and i reckon itd be tops. cant wait
