Vitara Starting Issues

92 Vitara 1.6L Injected.

Car had run out of fuel (Girlfriend) and now won't start. It will crank over just fine but sounds like no fuel is getting to the engine.

Anyone had similar problems or know of a fix? What can I do to test the fuel pump is working correctly.

I've checked fuses and there doesn't seem to be air in the system that I can tell.

Thanks in advance...

Have listened for the fuel pump but can't hear a thing so you might be onto something. I'd drop her but she has too much on me lol.

Is there a method other then listening for testing fuel pump?

Is taking the air filter off and spraying some start ya bastard into the intake be worthwhile test for the fuel pump. My theory is the pump would get fuel up to the engine unless its stuffed.

?

Unhook the fuel line, hit the ignition, but dont try the starter and it will prime the system and fuel should come out of the hose.

Thanks for the replies. I will try the hose check tomorrow first thing. I have a new filter ready to go. I might drop the tank out to check the pump and gauge anyway. Anyone pay for fuel pump lately? Prices?

Pump definitely dead.

For anyone that wants to know $ for fuel pump - I have ordered one from Burson's for $120.
