Saw this in another thread and was wondering what its like ?
http://www.thiswotidonow.com/syntheticrope1.htm
I know anything about rope but am sick of using the steel cable that I have and need to up grade.
Don't want to spead a mint because the truck needs it in other areas but whats this stuff like ?
Thanks for an info.

Looks good, but you'll have to get a Hawse Fairlead to run it, from memory they are around $100-120 aussie.
I got my Amsteel Rope and Hawse Fairlead from
www.okoffroad.com in the States for $299.00 au delivered, and our dollar was about 81c us then.

Having used both cable and rope a lot on the weekend, my vote's definitely for rope!

i picked some up 2 weeks ago for my winch... 28m on my highmount... only cause i dint know it came in other lenghts! which im pretty annoyed about now, as i would of liked to have a bit more... but ohwell...
and i gave it a good hiding for the weekend.... winched my self a few times and then the 3 other cars without winches... held up good only thing was the protector (black plastic stuff at the eye end got caught in the fairleed anjd ripped apart, so i pulled the rest of it off up to the splice...
didnt seen to strech from what i noticed, and seems to compact well...
im happy with it.

How much do you reckon will fit on a std high mount drum - i've been told anything from 28-50m... what do you reckon?

I ran 50m of 10mm on my standard drum high mount. On the new drum I'm running 90m and on the weekend we used about 65m on one winch to get a nice high winch point. Mine is rear mounted so it spools perfectly every time so that allows a bit more than standard.

i have no idea sorry, but there is still a fair bit of room for rope left, and with it spooled on tight... it did compact alot. i'll probably put what i have on my low mount and rear mount it and out 40 on m highmount i think.

Hey all, I too am looking at upgrading from a cable to rope, just not sure what length of 10mm or 11mm amsteel or plasma will fit on a standard drum. any suggestion?
Anybody had any problems importing stuff from Rockstomper.com or OKoffroad.com??

the problem I see is that there are so many out there now selling "ROPE" that who knows what your getting these days..
Some people know what they are selling as its their sole business, others are in it for a fast buck.
I still dont think you can beat what you get from the pre mentioned in 21001249021 threads on it from USA... I know Jet6 just got a stack recently.
