Ive just put 60 series diffs under my suzuki and have welded up where the breathers were because its where the springs ended up sitting.

Do i really neeed to tap in another breather pipe?

The car will be a comp truck that will basically drive between stages at comps and the weekend driving will all be at a top speed of probably 10kmph.

I cant see it really being neccesary?

There will still be pressure variances under different temperatures, air moves in and out of the diff as it changes, i'd imagine you need them but i'm no comp diff expert.

If you don't refit a breather/vent the diff will vent through the hub seals.
Not so bad most of the time, it might just lose/leak a little of the self levelling grease from the hubs but if the diff enters water and cools quickly it will need to suck air in... not so good if the only way in is the hub seals when they are underwater!.
Refit the breathers to save yourself some dramas.

fit breathers, trust me on this mate, as i did fit breathers on my 60 series, but i used the standard filter on the end of the standard breather again, and it only allows air out not in, which to my dismay, sucked water in when i was in a bog hole, and a few months later the diff seized big time, ended up tearing teeth out of my transfer case, and me not realizing thats why it happened never changed the filter tip, and it did it again, this time only buggering the diff, but still not something you want to happen in the middle of a comp....
