Parts list for TT 4.9's

Looking at getting TT 4.9's, 'gear install supplement kit', 3 x rubber transfer case mounts and an HD cradle (see here for pic) from Lowrange Offroad in the States.

Questions:
1) Is the full rebuild kit worth the extra $100 over the gear install supplement kit? I think it comes with the needle roller bearings everyone talks about being hard to get hold of, but am not 100% sure they're the ones.
2) Rubber tranfer mounts vs aluminium spacers with thru bolts??
3) HD cradle vs Mighty Kong? I like the load spreading and torsional restraint provided by the HD cradle but everyone always talks about Mighty Kong...

Might drop the transfer mounts off the above order as it all adds to $956 USD = $996 AU + postage ... a tad too close to the $1000 import duty limit for my comfort (minor fluctuation in exchange rate could push it over). Or the HD cradle if postage is too exxy.

Yout're already well over - duty is paid on the LANDED price in AU$, so you pay duty on the postage too.

If your case is currently quiet and in good nick, you shoudl be fine with the stuff in the basic gear kit - That's all I did with my 6.5.

I have received a few things from the US that were more than AUS$1000 landed and never had to pay an extra tax.

BUT if you are worried about it.....Talk to Sean at Lowrange. I'm sure he can split your order into two packages and do two receipts so there is no chance of any extra tax.

Ooooooooooooor you could talk to Jason and Chris at Locktup and negate the tax as they'll send it from their WA store....

Yep you could do that too.... IF you wanted to pay more than importing direct from US.
Loctup have to pay the very import tax you are talking about and I'm sure they don't absorb it, they pass it on.
Why buy through an extra middle-man at a higher price?

I support aussie business where possible but who has $$ to throw away.

Because they will get a resellers price and not a retail price therefore depending on their margin the price may come out similar. Get a quote anyways.

Seriously, compare their prices. I would direct deposit $50 tomorrow to the account of anyone who would prove me wrong that locktup would not beat the price you could get yourself from lowrange.

Locktup don't stock the trail tough gears apparently but they do stock the trail gear ones but I can't see the 4.9 ratio on the trail gear website, only the 6.5's

Thanks for the feedback guys - cheers Steve for the heads-up on duty being paid on the landed price.

Already talked to Locktup - they only get Trail Gear which haven't shown up much in my searches on here, while Trail Tough seem to have an unbeatable reputation. That's worth more to me than supporting an Aussie business or even saving a coupla hundred bucks if they were cheaper, given the dramas many people went through with Calmini and Rockhopper gearsets.

I'm all for Aussie businesses and small businesses (haven't shopped at Woolies, Coles, BP, Mobil or Shell for years now, since they introduced the fuel docket scam  ), but want the best product.
