Too much flex / new panhard needed?

Was just changing my tyres back to road ones and i noticed this..

Seems that they hit the control arms when flexing, on both side of the car. Has anybody replaced their panhard rod with a slightly longer/adjustable one? My axle seems to be about 15 - 25 mm out to one side at standing.

This is running GQ coils, shocks to match and no sway bar..

I'm going to look into GQ/80s panhard lengths to see if there could be a direct swap or if something custom is the go.

I have dents in both my shocks (OME), but nothing like that.

I had an adjustable Panhard installed when I had it engineered - from memory, it was a Nissan unit.

Dents in both my Rancho's on a vehicle with about 30mm lift! Dam Rancho's.

Maybe it's to do with the diameter of the shocks verses the factory ones..

Thats funny. I'm running the same setup with patrol springs giving at least 4"lift, no sway bar and rancho 5000s. Its got excellent flex but no dents and don't even look like hitting. Mine have the red rubber boot up top as apposed to the steel surround though. The shocks are very long too. So much so i've made retainers to stop the springs falling out under full flex.

Frank suggested it in a few other topics but I don't know if anyone has ever tried it.

Fitting Challenger arms would allow the control arms to pivot and could give a little more flex. I don't know where we could source some second hand to give it a try, I also don't know which model they came on.

THere's where I disagree, unless maybe someone wants to explain the obvious I may be missing.

I think with a 3 link having the pin type arrangement at the front of the radius arm is better than a eye like the challenger. With a 5 link, sure the eye type reigns supreme but if you are after flex the Pajero pin type would surely work better. For a straight out suspension lift the eye would be better but they really struggle to flex well. (Bundera, prado etc)

What diameter are you guys's Ranchos as my Ride Pros are about 57mm lower and 67mm upper section? This is only measured roughly with my eye and a measuring tape.

Also a NH LWB panhard is 96cm center of eye to center of eye.

From what i've been reading in the Nissan section (Sorry) is that a GU rear on is 97cm..

This is what was in one of Frank's posts that gave me the idea.

Wouldent a pivoting front mount allow the arm to get more of an angle on compression, allowing the whole axel to move left to right a little more... giving more flex... but more shock crushing?

Yep I have seen that post. I see our round bushings allowing more sideways movement but less up and down. I may be completely on the wrong track but due to the nature of a 3 or 5 link design the axle goes sideways quite dramitically when flexing.....

Best way would be find a standard Paj and std Challanger and see what happens!
Without doing the swap we'll never know!
