Body lift

I've noticed quite a few owners have been getting body lifts done on Ferozas, I am interested to obtain information about cost to do thisand where to get it done? Also I am looking at upgrading my rear leaf springs as my suspension is starting to get a bit tired. It's been 40000klm since I replaced the shockies, does that sound about right on shocks?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the tips I've checked through the threads, and found the info I need. I made some enquiries and found a guy who does them on the side around $300- $400 AUD to do excluding bullbar and rear bumper. A couple of suspension specialists told me it is illegal in QLD and others say 2 inch Max but vehicle has to be A1 mechinical for Roadworthiness. Of the places that do lifts the average seems to be about $700- $800. That seems a bit pricey but I'm not handy enough to do it myself.
Anyway, I have to go see the Man and tee it up. I would like to comment on how good this forum is. It's a great resource, and Daihatsu owners are great too. Well, thanks again and I look foward to show yous pictures of my pigged up Feroza.
Cheers

Your right! it seems a bit steep however this is what I got quoted from 4x4 spares and repairs at Albion. I am still trying to track this other guy because I lost his contact details sorry.
It looks like the lift kits can be purchased online for around a hundgy. Aparently it's the kit for a toyo 4runner. Maybe we can cut a deal and set up to do two lifts ie I help with yours and you help with mine.
I've printed all the info I have obtained from here, it could be a good option. I'm certainly prepared to have a go, if I'm getting the right advice, anyway I'm at Tingalpa on the eastside.
Does anyone know what model EL-X is? I've seen heaps of ELs but no EL-Xs. Well as for a Qld WARF trips might be time for a resurection. I went with some Warfys up to Landcruiser a few years back and everyone had fun. Nowdays my prefered surface is sand, so I reckon Teewah beach is a great inexpensive option from Brissy. It's proberly not for everyone some people don't like sand in their trolley, go figure. If the idea takes off I'll start a new strand. Got atleast 3 starters so far.
Cheers

hey Jimmy L yeah sounds good about the body lift and see if we could get it cheaper by getting two done the same time, you from Tingalpa I use to live there, one street away from the belmont shops, but am now at Carindale,
we feroza owners need to get together and do some trips, I have only ever done fourbying with my old man who owns a prado so I am keen to get amongst the rough stuff with other mighty fearozas

If you follow the instructions you should be right with some help.
Now just a question.... where did you get the quote for the lift kit? All you need for the feroza is ten blocks and high tensile bolts but been quoted $200 everywhere her in Sydney.
By the way, anyone in Sydney wanna do a body lift to their rig??? Wouldnt mind following these guys example and hooking up with someone and doing both rigs at once.
I'm pretty technically minded and pretty handy with a wrench.
Just need a place to do it at as I no longer have a garage and my street is no wider than a driveway.
Good luck fellas and you know where we are if you get stuck.
Cheers

Hey Guys,
I done a bit of an assessment and to be honest it looks like it could be a bit of a pig. However, my neighbors are very into cars and have all the tools and equipment to do the job. He may give us a hand too if we flick him a few bucks as he rarely partakes in the consumption of amber fluids.
The Rocky digest gave me this web site as a source for the kits
www.4wheelparts.com but I am yet to fully investigate. As for getting the trucks dirty, that would be dandy. At the moment trying to concentrate on fixing everything that I flogged out in various exploits. Of course it would be good to maybe look at a day trip for starters, nothing to challenging just some off-road fun. OI
Also can someone with a bodylift please post a couple of close ups of the a blocks installed to give us a better idea of what we arelooking at. Thanks in advance
Cheers

Just an update, I've checked through the Forum and found a link a website with a very good procedure on doing body lifts. I think it is on page 7, thanks David really good of you to put something as detailed as this for us to check out.
I going to gamble on the 4runner kit which can be ordered off the internet so hopefully what I've heard is correct. Anyway, we'll see how the project progresses.

Thanks for the info so far. I'm still doing my homework so still need a bit more help from the outer limits team-
How badly would the centre of gravity be affected on a narrow track feroza with a body lift? How much power do you lose by running 31in tyres?
I know body lifts look tough but do they really improve off-road performance and will safety be compromised on road with the narrow track. Is there any pictures of a narrow track feroza with a lift done.
Thanks in advance

COG will be affected, but the only reason to do a BL is to fit bigger tyres !
If you think that it is more unstable (on side angles) get yourself some offset rims......I believe the F100 Sunny rims have slightly more offset than standard Feroza rims.
Yes....you will loose gearing by putting on bigger tyres, more strain on the driveline. There are currently NO gearing options for the t-case or g-box to improve drivability.....you just need to invest in some LEAD BOOTS !!
As for pictures, have you looked through the 4 pages of the Readers Rigs up the top of the Daihatsu section ?? Not sure if there are any there.....but....????

I just ordered some nylon body blocks from a guy in Newcastle hopefully they will be the right ones. It's simply a 2" round and 2" long block with a 13mm hole and bevelled edges. If anyone else wants em you can find in the 4 sale section of this forum for 10 bucks a throw.
Hopefully will post pics when I do the lift in a couple of weeks
Cheers

Mini Truck Block 2" $2.68ea...I think that they are cheaper than that but they have the price mixed up.

That is cheaper but by the time you take into account exchange rate and postage from the US it's kind of comparing apples with apples.
The good news is my blocks arrived today and I'm ready to proceed with the bodylift. Hopefully the job will run smoothly and I don't get too many tough nuts and stuff.
Cheers
