Feroza idle problems

My Feroza has been having a few problems over the last few weeks. The idle is fluctuating quite a bit but it is also very low and often causes the car to turn off when stopping (at lights or an intersection). If I stop slowly by shifting down through the gears it will be ok (the revs still drop but not enough to stall the car), but if I don't do that then it will stall. This doesn't happen all the time which makes the problem harder to find.
I've noticed that it seems to be related to braking. The harder I brake, the more chance of the car stopping.
I have checked timing and set to factory specs, checked vacuum lines, and cleaned the throttle body (just by spraying carby cleaner into it).

Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Ferozamaniac,

I have already done the EFI test as my "check engine" light has been comming on when i go up hills while in 5th gear (this has been happening for a while now) but the codes gave a normal reading.

How old is your battery?

I had similar issues, but I knew my battery was cactus. All good once I replaced it.

Have you checked if your vacuum advance is hooked up correctly and working?

Hi,

My battery is fairly new so I don't think thats the problem, and the vacuum advance is hooked up.

I replaced the throttle positioning sensor yesterday and that seems to have improved the problem significantly.
So far the idle only fluctuates a little and usually sits around 800 rpm.
Wheres before it was fluctuating heaps and sitting very low around 400 - 500 rpm.
I will drive it around for a few days and see if anything changes.
