been thinking about having ago at moving my alternator and we all know why

had my head under the bonnet for awile thinking and im thinking this...

can i remove the air box and air filter?

but a new K&N type air filter on top of the snorkel, cone type thing, will this be good enough? and what about water getting in??

now i have bags of room to make a mount to mount the alternator with.

then im thinking get rid of the air con and belt, this leaves the outer wheel on the crank pulley free that would line up very well with an alternator where the airbox was, i could also use the air con tensioner to tension the new alternator belt up

power steering pump is fine to stay were it is, mite just have to move one of the pipes slightly to get belt by but shouldnt be a problem.

im also thinking leave the lower alternator where it is for oil/vac pump, atleast for the mean time untill i can look in to an electric vac pump to replace it,

then just extend the wires etc to reach new alternator

what do you think? shoot me down in flames please if you dont think it wont work or else i mite end up having ago at doing it, or please if you can think of anything better to improve what i said above please do

Personally I would't be putting the only filter on top of the snorkel. I put a pod filter on top of mine for real dusty conditions and leave the normal filter in place as well.

They get horrible dirty when it rains, mud plasters it, and sticks put holes in it leading to a very free flowing filter in no time!

I too have stared under the bonnet of mine thinking about moving the alternator!
