x-link and 3rd arms

whats the thoughts.....
have a gq td42, 5" lift with 3rd front arms. can get a cheap x-link for it, swapping some parts i have at home.
has anyone got an x link? are they good? will it be undrivable with both(3rds and xlink) or will it be great. searched and found a comment where the guy drilled holes in both sides and welded nuts to the diff so he could bolt it solid for road driving.?? any help or ideas will be appreciated as i can have it fitted 2mrw.
