Would a 3" lift look silly with 31's ?

Post by Draven »

Hey All,

Starting to think seriously about getting the GQ lifted. Because of stupid QLD's rules, it looks like ill be restricted to a max 3" Suspension lift at this stage. Im going with 3" cause I would like to fit 33" eventually.

Now my question is, if I get this 3" lift is my rig going to look silly with 31's on it ?

As I said 33s are on the cards but cant afford both at this stage.

Any chance someone might have a piccy of such a beast ?

Thanks all.

I think my Paj looks silly with 3" lift on 31" but I'm getting used to it.

It'll look even worse once I throw in a 2" body lift  but I've seen something similar with 33s, and that looks OK.

Just do it!

I just put a three inch lift in my GQ a couple of weekends ago and only have 31's on it, the easter bunny is bringing my 33x12.5x15 mtr's. It doesn't look too bad but the gap between the top of the tyres and the guard is noticable. Sorry I don't have a picture. Don't forget to get extended brake lines at the same time because mine turned into guitar strings.

Yer but a Hilux usuall comes with 29's or somthing like that. Where as the std tyre size for a GQ was somewhere between 31" to 32".

Been there done that, it looks like its on scooter wheels. But who gives a fuck, its your car, and if its all you can afford at the moment, then do it.

Either that or wait and do it all in one go

For what it's worth a tyre place near my work will do that lift for $750 fitted and with wheel alignment.

Not bad I thought. Just thought I'd mention it; they did some pretty cheap tyre-to-rim swapping and balancing for me.

Is there much difference in body roll with a 3" suspension lift ?, Its my daily driver so really needs to retain a fair amount of its drivability.

who cares what it will look like.

I ran a 3" lift and 31s on my GQ for a couple of weeks and it was fine in both looks and handling no more body roll etc. It was my daily driver too about 80 km a day and no problems at all.

Shoulda seen the Firetruck tonight! 28s on the front and 29s on the rear, stretched wheelbase and normally runs 38.5 TSL/SXs. Now that was a funny looking rig.

A rig lifted to that extent has one purpose. To fit bigger tyres!!
You can get enough ground clearance to get anywhere if ya can fit 35's as long as ur springs are set up well.
