need to know the oil capacity for a g16a engine with a sierra sump onit, couldnt find it in the bible, and I know everyone is going to say just fill it to the dipstick. The problem is that when I rebuilt the motor, I got 3 different dipsticks and tubes all different lengths .
Any help appreciated, Thanks.

Haynes Manual Specifications 1•1

Engine Oil 4.7 quart [UK] = 5.34 litre

Engine Oil 4.7 quart [US, liquid] 4.447 litre

As the Haynes Manual doesn't specify whether the 4.7qts is either the UK or US measurement I've posted both conversions above. I originally assumed it would have been in UK quarts :?:. If anyone can confirm the exact answer please submit.

The manual covers both SJ's & Vitaras but doesn't specify individual capacities between the 1.3 & 1.6. Just the one above.

Have you searched the sierra bible?
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic48714.php

or the vitara bible?
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic48779.php

There may be something in there, but sometimes you'll have to dig a bit deeper in threads that may give you the answer you seek.

Hope this helps… Darren

I think it'll be the lesser of the two numbers. I know my GTi motor takes less than a full 5L bottle of oil.

On my 1.3 I always thought it was around the 4.5 - 5L. After a full service including a new Oil filter I'd almost use a full 5L container of Valvoline - you know what I mean. :D

i would say the same as above.

when i have done it i have the original g16a (mpfi) dipstick and then set the oil level on that one.
