Dual Cab Ute Forty Series?!?

G'day.
I'm getting keen to build a dual cab forty series ute. This would involve pulling a ute or troopy of a long wheel base chassis and swaping it with a shorty body, then ading a small try to the remaining rails. I've only seen it done twice before and was wondering if anyone had done it or knows anyone who has. I don't want to undertake this project if it os going to take twelve months of stuffing around to build.
I know a bloke who is selling a sprung-over HJ47 (2H diesel donk) ute, and was wondering who easy it would be to just drop the shorty body on top of it.
Any clues, hints suggestions, warnings would be much apperciated.

For a while tehre - there were Toyota Factory options of a 3 door ute - dual cab styley...

Seen 3 original ones so far - look Kool.

I reckon you couldn't funk it up on a Ute Chassis. Be too easy - except for fuel fillers... oh and wheels arch's...

That sounds pretty expensive. As much as owning a stocker like that would be, they seem pretty rare, and that mean hard to find and expensive. I have seen two of the modified numbers before and looking at it quickly, I found the body mounts should be pretty close.

If any one knows anything about this mod or knows anyone who has done it, any help/words of wisdom/warnings would be appreciated

youll have to fill in the rear wheel arches, and maybe move a few mounts but on a old dinasaur like the 40s nothing is too hard.

There was a Perth Company (Arkana) building these for the mines, and the continued to build stretch troopies and 4 door utes into the 90's before going belly up.

Best style of this conversion I've seen was a 45 Troopy fitted with a shorty hardtop, creating a well back ute. It didn't have rear doors though.

Toyota have never produced a 3 door troopy. The conversions have been done use OE components and look very professional.

Overseas markets had a 4 door 70 series style wagon, replaced by the Prado. There's a couple in Canberra

one of my mates dad's owns a dual cab 40, they look pretty well fixed up and would look pretty mad done up ;)

The bandeirante in south america, was built as a factory dual cab, and there was a 3 or 4 door version available to australia in the 40 series, it was very low volume and popular in mines in WA, the truth is out there roktruk, keep searching.
