Tapping into the Central Locking

I have an alarm I'm going to fit to the 08 GU, which already has remote central locking.

To get the alarm to lock/unlock my doors, where to I take it's door-wires? Do I have to run them all the way out to the door handle where the lock switch is? Cos that would be a PITA.

I expect there's a little black box somewhere which 'runs' the central locking... where is it?

Thanks ppl!

Stick your head under the steering column and get someone to lock/unlock your car. You should hear a clicking noise coming from the locking relay box either in the kick panel or under the dash somewhere. If not try passenger side. They are 9 times out of 10 very easily accessible. Then stick a testlight into each wire until u hit one that will lock your doors, and one that will unlock. (testlight works as a safe earth)
Wiring will then be determined by what type of trigger system is used by the alarm, + or -. If negative, then simply attach the alarm's trigger wires to the car's locking trigger wires you just found.

Hope this helps.

THANKS!

Good idea using a testlight - never heard that before - but it makes sense. (I'd have just played with a multimeter)

I'll try that tomorrow!
