Outer Limits 4x4 Board

OK i just want to get an idea of what PEOPLE WOULD PREFER to watch!!!!!!

Single seater! Great visability and the fact that I could PUSH the envelope and drive places that people could never imagine (pushing BEYOND the outerlimits )

OR

The more conventional twin seater! Not quite a much visability, a little more weight, would it be LESS capable than a single seater?????

The thing is i would not leave it looking like a MOON BUGGY, i would have it looking smick with panels and a wicked bonnet, so it still resembles a rig!!

Also is a single seater too far advanced for Australia, considering that there is only 2 full tube buggy's in OZ??? (ATM )

If it was a single seater would it still be as wide as a twin seater
Just curious because if it was narrower it wouldn't be as stable

The width of the axles stay the same, just the body is Narrowed. This creates a MORE stable rig!

seriously, these new buggies being built in the US are getting too far away from a 'real' 4wd IMO. sure they can drive awesome ledges and cracks, but sh*t, they're all gonna end up being the same thing in a years time i reckon.

like the new diabloII, with the winch and battery mounted onto the axles.........totally useless anywhere but a comp. i know they're specially built just for the comps, but i'd rather watch a rig like the boatlux or the mogrover, than the new guthrie motorsports 'moon buggies'.

to be competitive i think you should go full on. single seater, but keep it low. get a front wheel drive transaxle engine.

also i would try a wide front axle but narrowed rear, for clearance around witches hats. it should still be quite stable.

I voted two seater, to me the single seater just doesn't look right(only my opinion) Plus on weekends like the OL weekend you could scare the 5hit out of some keen wouldbe 4x4ers

yes the matrix is nice, but personally i prefer even more 'model identification'

something like Azrckcrawler's rig from pirate, or the arachnid

BUT, if you just wanna win comps, something tiny would be the go

Dual Seats..........no particular reason

Depends what you want to achieve.

If you want to be popular you need a rig that looks like something and probably has two seats.

If you want to win then go for a single seater.

I voted 2 seater cause I think this is where the popular following will be as well as the sponsor dollars. In the US with all the single seaters ATM I think they will eventually create another class that seperates the moon buggies from the more conventional engine up front 2 seater buggies and I believe that this class is where the $$ and the spectator following will be. They sort of tried to do this last year but the rig numbers wernt there so they just ran them all together - i think they will try to do this again.

I wanted to get a overall view of what PEOPLE WANT TO see.

I figure we also wheel more as recreation more so than Comps (atm) and a single seater would be a pain in the arse! (Fun, but a pain still the same).

I also believe that the Sport is no where near the stage of requiring a SINGLE seater TO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are going to be putting in the effort required to build this thing, then why cut corners. Why build something that others want to see? Build something that enables you to push the envelope as far as possible. I see advantages with a twin seater but many with the single seater option. Besides you could always weld on a towbar to cart you bitches around

But if you're going for looks then try and make it so it looks like it was built by Jason Paule. Then you know that it will be amongst the best looking rigs around. As far as asthetics, I consider his creations to be the best looking by a long way.

twin seats. gives you somewhere to put your esky.

Twin seater, looks better and it means that you can still have the winch bitch sitting there with ya.

twin seats, means u can have a passenger when ur practicing for comps so they can learn from the guru in the drivers seat

NAM i am with you the toyfamily rig is sweet and simple.
Sam is right they will eventually split the rig type, like when the assasin hit the comps it was so far ahead of its time they re-wrote the rules to stop it being so dominant (the thing used to win on 35 BFG A/T).

ME i am in favour of single seaters, only because 'we' as a group over the last year or so have pushed competitive 4wd'ing in this country to new levels constantly, and i would like to see this continue. plus if it looks good and sounds right (v8) we would watch you drive some mad shit no matter what you are in & only the way you drive your rig (plenty of pedal).

But... Dont a some comps require the spotter to be seated and belted in at the end of the comp or is that just the outback challenge Im thinking of?

was about to say for comps like tuff truck etc, dosnt the spotter have to start off strapped into the vechile ??
i dunno how you would get around that with a single seater, unless they modified the ruls to accomidate single seat buggies.

Single seat.

Competition improves the breed. If people don't push limits the learning stops, and who knows what people might learn from single seaters which can flow thru to us mere mortals?

You have already said you spend A fair bit of time just wheeling for fun, which usually involves some one riding shotgun. So the 2 seater, but if you want to keep it narrow, put the 2nd seat tandam.

i vote for twin seats. I dont see much use in a single seat unless all you ever use the car for is in comps. With two seats you can:
- take a sponsor for a ride
- have a competition where the winner gets to ride shotgun in your rig
- make the rig look more like a real vehicle and not some NASA moon buggy.
