Hi all, Dan here,

Just made the leap from Rovers/Disco's 15 years of hell and a bit of joy, to a '04 dual cab hilux tray 3.0TD (still working out the codes) Verrrrrrrry happy, but a couple of questions for the additions and setup...

But firstly the usage, daily work ute towing up to 1.5t chipppers frequently, allloy tool boxes take up 3/4 of the tray loaded with light tools, often crossing soft grassy paddocks.

Days off spent climbing through local clay/rock state forest tracks and Nat pks.

My priority is tyres/rims and <2" suspension lift.

Should I be looking at 16" rims and what is the largest tyre to fit the arches without ever rubbing?

Thanks guys I'll be checking my locals for opinions too but you all seen to know yous stuff..

Not 100% sure on any of this, but is it torsion bar or coil - over front end?

Newer vehicles have bigger brakes so you may not be able to go any less than 16" rims to ensure they fit over the brake calipers.

Largest tyre size that will fit on 16" rims without rubbing and the small lift you are planning will probably be a 235/85/16 (equivalent to about a 32" tyre). These are skinny and won't look that good though. A better size might be 245/75/16 (need at least a 7" rim) which is equivalent to a 31".

31's will fit no worries. If you want to go bigger then things will have
to be removed. Cut as close as you can back to the fire wall and 32' 11.5'a will fit. 33X10.5 will also fit on the standard hilux rims.

But you have to cut
