Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Folks,

Since there are a few of us thinking of heading up - I figure it makes sense to travel up there together.

Post up travel plans and co-ordinate ideas here.


Idea Number 1:
We let pete prepare the dinner - the Roast in the snow was delish

Hey guys if I come over to melb by plane is their any chance that some one would be able to give me a lift?

I'll bring the fairy bread for ya greg!

Wait a little bit til we've got our transport ideas confirmed mate - currently i'm thinking about hiring some sort of vehicle and towing the car up - if we have spare seats - then you're on - but if that doesn't happen and i drive the zook - then spare seats my be a no-go (in my car at least).

You guys hired a camper van type setup for tuff truck in 2002 right? Can you give us the run down on that van - costs, number of beds etc?

I can't remember buut it was good


We got it thru Britz and it slept 4 with a toilet and shower and full cooking facilities but you won't be able to tow with it.

i will be towing the Zuk if I can make it then. So will be room to chuck a set of unroad friendly tyres

Basically my plan was (assuming Fel is gonig to come along) to drive up there with either a campervan type setup, or a car and trailer setup.

(july = cold) + tent + Fel = trouble... better to sleep in comfort

Not in Aus (for the double car trailer) and I belive you would be close to exceeding the GQ's legal towing capacity if you could .. They are rated to 2.5 tonne.. most "commercial hire" single vehicle trailers are around 850Kg mark.. if you could get a double car trailer .. it woul dbe a bout 950 at a guess ..

This has just been confirmed - no vehicle rented from Britz has a tow bar

You can buy a tow bar pretty cheap .. a bit of extra steel, thow steve a few steaks get him to :cough: attatch it :cough: .. and your good to go

I thought about that too

I guess another idea would be getting it there "grimbo style".

I'll "breakdown" outside my house and get it towed to my "machanic" in berridale... Then "breakdown" in berridale and get it towed home again

Graham - looking at this website suggests that there are plenty of caravan parks in the area - would that make things easier if we stayed at those intstead?

I just heard back from Wendle - it's a 5 minute drive from the property into Berridale.

Anyone live near berridale? Can you go and give Gary at the caravan park a clip over the ears and ask him to return my calls?

Best deal i've found so far (not including caravan park) is these holiday flats...

A maximum cost of $180 per night, but you can have up to 9 people sleeping in them - so that's only $20 a head...

from the sound of it, it would make it easier for you

If it is only about 5 minutes then yes it probably would as facilities wouldn't be needed on site which would be good for Cal, the owner. Also means as it will be bloody cold there will be hot showers at night and I'd imagine a pub to relax in at night

I would be keen for a spot in the cabin.
I'm not used to cold whether and I can't carry an escy

What's the plan Dewse - are you going to go via melb, or via sydney?

Okay, I called up and chatted with a lovely Berridale local by the name of Ingret who (along with her husband) run some holiday flats up there.

Here's the details:

2 x Coliro Flats (sleep 7*) = $600 for Fri, Sat, Sun nights
3 x Snowdale Flats (sleep 5) = $500 for Fri, Sat, Sun nights.

The two groups of flats are about 1km away from each other, and the owners live in the fourth of the Snowdale flats.

As the 24th July does not clash with the school holidays, there is an excellent chance that we will be able to book this stuff quite late - but i think the sooner the better.

All flats have offstreet parking - some even have 1 undercover parking spot (read - wreching bay).

* - i still think we could fit 9 in there though.

Hell yeah I still think I'm going just need to book the ticket. Still havn't decided which way to go as I don't know where syd or melb are in relation to CITC. I hope I can get a bus or something otherwise I'll try get a lift from a friend in sydney.
