Ignition barell

Had it seize up on me today, had to change over to a spare one so I could get started. But now I'm stuck with a different key for ignition to the door locks.

I can't seem to find any way to pull the actual barrel apart to change the guts outta it. Would a locksmith do this sorta thing, can it even be done - switch one key thingo into a different barrel? Is it expensive?

Or do I just put up with 2 keys

And, how illegal is it to have the car just wired up to a switch for when I inevitably get sick of loosing my second key?

Can you fix the old one? Silicone spray is wonderful stuff, give it a spray and see if that frees it up?

I sprayed a heap of WD40 in there, jiggled it around a played with it for ages, got it to turn once and thought great, I fixed it. Then turned it back to the lock position and that's where it stayed.

So I'm thinking even if I could get it freely moving again, I'd be a bit concerned about it locking up again at some inconvenient time.

A locksmith should only charge about $20 for such a service, definitely worth a call.

There is a sequence for changing the ignition barrels, but its a long long time since I read it. It is on the net somewhere.
